The police in Aba have detained a 60-year-old man who goes by the name Christian after he raped an eight-year-old girl in Umuodukwu village in the Obingwa government area of Abia State.

According to community sources who spoke with Vanguard, the culprit sexually assaulted the eight-year-old identified only as Miss Princess three times this year before he was apprehended.

The head of Umuonyero kindred in Umuodukwu Village, Hon. Prince Ndubueze, told Vanguard in an interview that the culprit, a village tenant, was apprehended by several youths and turned over to the Aba police.

Ndubueze, who said that the guy admitted to the act without being physically assaulted by a resident, also mentioned that the suspect had previously been taken into custody for the same offence in a different house he had lived near the hamlet.

He said; “The suspect is a tenant in Umuodukwu village. He is married. The youths caught him while he was raping an 8-year-old girl at about 11 pm.

“During the interrogation, he confessed to the crime, that it was the third time he was raping the 8-year-old girl. We also discovered that he committed the same offence four years ago while he was living in his former residence near the village. He is a serial rapist. We handed him over to the Police in Aba.”

As of the time this story was filed, ASP Maureen Chinaka, a spokeswoman for the Abia Police, has not responded despite her commitment to do so, according to the Vanguard.

Meanwhile, the Police in Ogun State have arrested two suspects, Rotimi Boluwatife and Adeyemi Tosin for allegedly raping two female students, Alimo Karimu and Temitope Ojo.

The police revealed that the duo drugged the two female students with noodles in the Ifo local government area of Ogun State.

According to The Punch report, a police source, who was privy to the incident but is not permitted to speak to the media, said on Monday that the female students’ meals were laced with cannabis, which was used to cook the noodles during a visit to the suspects’ house.

It was said that the students left home in the morning for school, Sholu High School at Ifo, but one of them, Karimu, came home displaying an unregular and funny attitude, which gave her parents a clue that she was under the influence of drugs.

She later confessed after interrogation by her parents and also disclosed the whereabouts of their neighbour’s child, Ojo, who was said to be lying lifelessly in the suspected rapist’s house.

The case was reported to the Ifo Division Police Station by the victim’s parents, and the operatives proactively responded to the case as they visited the alleged culprit’s house and found Ojo in a toxic condition.

The men were arrested, and they confessed that they raped the girls after adding illicit substances (narcotic cannabis) to the noodles they ate at their place, which sedated them.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the Ogun Police Command, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident and gave a detailed account of the event, in which the suspects admitted to perpetrating the crime.
