The New York City Police has arrested a 61-year-old suspect, Simon Martial and charged him with second-degree murder for the death of the woman he pushed in front of a moving train in New York City.
The woman was pushed to her death in front of an oncoming train on Saturday morning, at the New York Times' Square subway station.
A police spokesperson said the woman was shoved onto the tracks and struck by a southbound train. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The man fled the scene but turned himself into a transit police a short time later.
The Police Commissioner, Keechant Sewell said at a news conference; “This incident was unprovoked, and the victim does not appear to have had any interaction with the suspect."
The Police identified the suspect as a homeless man as he was charged with second-degree murder.
He was discovered to have a criminal history and has been on parole.
