Police Arrest Mr Macaroni At Lekki Tollgate

Nigerian skit maker, Debo Adebayo aka Mr Macaroni, has been arrested at the Lekki tollgate. He broadcasted live on Instagram in a police van until his phone was seized and his Instagram Live ended. Also, about 26 other people have been arrested today.

Macaroni joined the protest against the planned reopening of the Lekki toll gate following the alleged killing of protesters on October 20, 2020.

Recall that after the decision of the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Enquiry and Restitution for Victims of SARS related abuses and other matters to return control of the Lekki Toll Gate plaza to the Lekki Concession Company (LCC), several Nigerians, including celebrities, criticized the move, citing that justice has not been served on the perpetrators of the shootings on October 20, 2020.

Some youths took to Twitter to air their displeasure over the panel’s decision and threatened to stage a protest tagged #OccupyLekkiTollGate against the move which is currently taking place today.

However, it was reported that their has been a huge police presence at the toll gate in order to prevent protesters from exercising their human right to protest.
