 Police Arrest Persons Who Allegedly Bought Cars With Fake B

The Enugu State Police Command has arrested 11 criminal suspects for different crimes that includes fraud, murder, kidnapping, child trafficking and armed robbery.

The Commissioner of Police, Abubakar Lawal on Thursday, while parading the suspects at the state police headquarters said they were arrested last month.

Among the 11 suspects are Odoh Tochukwu, Ifenyinwa Okonkwo and Ogbodo Emmanuel, who are specialists in buying vehicles with fake bank alerts.

According to the Commissioner, investigation showed that the criminal syndicate specialised in stealing cars by fraudulently sending fake credit alerts to unsuspecting car dealers, as payment for the purchase of cars.

“Six vehicles were recovered from them, while there is further investigation to arrest other members of the criminals," she said.

Also paraded were Chioma Nwatu, Chikwube Nwatu and Uwa Emeka who were arrested for alleged conspiracy and kidnapping.

The kidnapping gang was said to have received a ransom of about N10m from a victim’s family, but failed to produce him.

While the police command was working to rescue the victim, a Mercedes Benz belonging to the victim was recovered.
