Police arrest suspected gunrunner, Ikechukwu Didi in Abuja

The Nigeria Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, has announced the arrest of Ikechukwu Didi, a suspected gunrunner.

The arrest was made public by Commissioner of Police, Benneth Igweh, on Thursday, during the parade of several suspects apprehended for various crimes.

According to Igweh, the suspect, Didi, an indigene of Enugu State, was apprehended at the well-known Dutse Junction area of the FCT.

The arrest is part of ongoing efforts by the FCT Police Command to crack down on criminal activities and ensure the safety and security of residents.

“On June 7, 2024, at about 2:00 pm, acting on credible intelligence, police operatives from the anti-car theft section, trailed and arrested one Ikechukwu Didi, 54, of Enugu State at Dutse Junction, who specialised in gunrunning.

“Seven automatic pump-action shotguns and 1000 rounds of live cartridges were recovered from him. The suspect will be arranged in court soon,” he said.
