The Kaduna State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of 60-year-old Ali Shu'aibu who escaped during the Kuje prison jail break in Kaduna.

This was contained in a statement by the spokesperson of the command in Kaduna, DSP Muhammed Jalige.

Jalige said Shu'aibu was arrested on Sunday at about 7:30 pm.

The Islamic State in West Africa Province (ISWAP) had taken full responsibility of the attack on the Kuje prison in a video.

According to Jalige, the suspect, an indigene of Kano, was heading to Kano based on intelligence report before he was caught.

“The suspect on preliminary investigation revealed that he is part of the inmates who escaped during the recent attack on the Kuje medium security correctional center."

Jalige added that the Kaduna State Commissioner of Police, Yekini A. Ayoku, had directed the handing over of the suspect to the Nigerian Correctional Service upon following due process.

The commissioner praised the officers for the good work adding that they should not relent in their duties to curb criminality in the state.
