Police Confirms Arrest Of Suspect In Attack On First Lady's

The Adamawa State Police Command has confirmed the arrest of a suspect in the attack on Hajiya Lami Fintiri's convoy in Yola.

The Adamawa State First Lady, Lami Fintiri's convoy was attacked when she visited Muchalla on February 4 following an invitation by catholic women for their congress.

Meanwhile, following the attack, four vehicles, including a press crew van were destroyed. 

The suspect was identified as 24-year-old Lot Bitrus of Muchalla village in Mubi North local government area of the state.

The confirmation was made by the spokesperson of the command, SP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje on Wednesday.

According to Nguroje, the suspect was arrested on February 5, 2023.

He explained that the suspect was arrested in his hideout situated at a remote site of Muchalla Village. 

Nguroje added that the suspect was being investigated in police custody.

He added that the state's Commissioner of Police, Sikiru Akande has directed that "the suspect be investigated discreetly with a view to gather both human and material evidence for prosecution,"

The commissioner further appealed to people to support the police with credible information on any suspicious character around them, adding that the police could be reached on the following numbers: "08089671313, 08130013347".
