The police command, on Monday, confirmed the release of the kidnapped Professor Adigun Agbaje, a former deputy vice-chancellor of the University of Ibadan.
The command said the Professor who was reported to have been abducted had been freed.
Armed men in uniform abducted Agbaje and other travellers on Friday night near Dominica University on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, including two female students from Moshood Abiola Polytechnic in Abeokuta.
Agbaje is currently undergoing debriefing, according to a police statement from Monday.
Regarding the release of further abducted travellers, the police withheld information.
Olayemi Adejare and Oluwatobi Orekoya and Agbaje, two Moshood Abiola Polytechnic students, were reportedly hauled up on Sunday night from a spot close to the Sat Guru Maharaji section on the Ibadan-Lagos Expressway.
According to reports, the kidnappers sought N50 million from Agbaje's family in exchange for his release while only asking for N10 million from each of the two students.
