Police Constabularies Protest 18 Months Unpaid Salaries In O

Personnel of the Nigerian Police Special Constabularies on Wednesday staged a peaceful protest over the non-payment of 18 months' salary.

The protesting Police Constabulary personnel who started their protest from Oke-Fia through Alekuwodo to Olaiya junction were armed with various placards bearing different inscriptions.

The aggrieved police officers called on the authorities to look into the matter and pay them their allowances.

On his part, the Commissioner of Police, Adewale Olokode ordered the protesting Constabulary personnel to stop the protest immediately while assuring them of addressing the issue as soon as possible.

"You are embarrassing the force with your protest, you should channel your grievances to the appropriate quarters.

"You are disturbing public peace with your protests. As far as you are wearing this uniform, we expect you to maintain high discipline."
