Police Deactivate IED In Kaduna Bar

The Nigerian Police says it has successfully deactivated an Improvised Explosive Sevice (IED), planted at a bar on February 27, 2022.

In a statement on Tuesday, the Kaduna State Police command's spokesperson, ASP Mohammed Jalige said the IED was discovered on the same day a similar device exploded at a hotel in Kaduna.

The statement added that after the hotel explosion occurred, police received information that a device was spotted at Larry Breeze Bar at the Romi area of Chukun local government area where some football fans were watching a match.

The Police Command in Kaduna State said it had deactivated an IED, in a bar on February 27, the same day an explosion occurred in a hotel in Kaduna.

Giving an update on the two incidences, the Command’s spokesperson, Mohammed Jalige, said in a statement on Tuesday that the IED was deactivated at Larry Breeze Bar, located at Romi area of Chikun Local Government Area.

He said after the explosion in a hotel, police received information about another suspected IED placed in a bar where football enthusiasts were watching a match.

“On the strength of the information, logistics and men were immediately mobilized to cordon the entire location, while the EOD unit acted promptly in diffusing the said IED.

The earlier explosion occurred at Dorino Hotel in the Kabala West area of the Kaduna metropolis.

The explosion caused minimal damage to the Hotel, and there was no loss of lives.

“The CP is urging residents of the State to report any suspicious object to the nearest security formation.

“He is also calling on people to go about their normal businesses as there is no cause for alarm," Jalige said.

Kaduna State Government had earlier issued a warning that residents should stay alert following the explosions, with the threat that others may follow.
