Police in Gombe State has debunked the claim that it arrested some political party agents with ballot papers thumbprinting on them.
News have been making rounds on social media that the ballot papers were thumbprinted ahead of the Saturday's gubernatorial and state assembly elections.
Meanwhile, in a statement on Friday by ASP Mahid Mu'azu Abubakar, spokesperson of the Gombe State Police Command, said the information was fake.
"Supporters of the political party were using sample ballot papers to educate their would-be voters on how to vote for their candidate, which was written boldly on the sample ballot," the police investigation revealed.
He added that the state's police command has urged the public to disregard the information.
He described it as misleading and capable of causing chaos in the state.
"The Command equally enjoins the public to desist from spreading unverified information, please," Abubakar said.
