Police Defuse Bomb In Borno IDP Camp

The Nigerian Police in Borno State has defused a bomb found at the Dalori Internally Displaced Camp of Konduga local government area.

The police said the bomb was concealed in a bucket and dropped at the camp by Boko Haram and ISWAP terrorists.

The item which was sighted at around 6 am caused panic in the camp, forcing people to abandon their shelters for safety.

Confirming the incident in Maiduguri on Monday, the Borno State Commissioner of Police, Abdu Umar following the report, dispatched a team of operatives from the Explosive Ordinance Disposal (EOD) to the scene to defuse the bomb.

The commissioner said, "An unidentified element suspected to be an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted inside a plastic bucket with a panel close to the fence of the camp by suspected insurgents was discovered.”

While noting the success of the operation, he urged residents to return and continue their normal lawful activities.
