Police lay siege to criminal hideouts, arrest suspects in Ji

Police in Jigawa State have raided criminal hideouts and detained seven individuals in the Kazaure and Dutse local government regions.

DSP Lawan Shiisu Adam, the command's spokesman, revealed this in a statement to the Daily Post.

According to a report, "a team of policemen attached to Dutse and Kazaure Divisional Police Headquarters raided criminal hideouts at Zai Hills, Gindin Dinya, and Bandawa all in Dutse and Kazaure LGAs."

He stated that seven people were captured during the operation and charged with various offences. 

They included 27-year-old Haruna Alto'm of Sabkarawa village, Yankwashi LGA, an alleged known drug dealer terrorising the Kazaure emirate.

He stated that the suspect was apprehended in possession of a considerable number of dried leaves presumed to be Indian hemp and seven (7) boxes containing over two hundred (200) pieces of rubber solution.

Other recovered items include 56 pills of exol/diazepam and 9 capsules of tramadol.

Shiisu stated that all individuals apprehended will be arraigned in court and face the full weight of the law following a careful investigation.

Meanwhile, the Jigawa State Government has announced Friday, the opening of the portal for agricultural loan applications for state civil servants who are interested in farming.

Muhammad K. Dagaceri, the State Head of Service and Chairman of the Technical Committee on Workers Agricultural Support Programme, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday.

According to Dagaceri, the portal will be open for three days and is expected to be closed on June 24, 2024, at midnight.

He said political appointees who have an interest in farming may also apply through the portal, https://www.jigawaworkeragricsupportschemes.com.

The statement partly reads: "The Technical Committee on Workers Agricultural Support Programme, wishes to inform Jigawa State Civil Servants who are interested in farming that, the application portal for the selection of beneficiaries of this year's Agricultural Loan will be open on Friday 21st June 2024 by midnight and would be closed on Monday 24th June 2024 midnight.

"Additionally, political appointees who are interested in practising Agriculture can also access the Loan through the portal.

"Therefore, interested Staff and political appointees should log in to https://www.jigawaworkeragricsupportschemes.com with their Personnel Staff Number (PSN)."
