In a signed statement by the Osun Police Command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola on Friday in Osogbo, the Commissioner of Police Julius Alawari Okoro promised that the Command would continue to perform his statutory duty of protecting lives and property.

While wishing all Muslim faithful a joyous and peaceful celebration, the Command urged the residents of the state to conduct themselves within the ambit of the law and go about with their lawful duties.

"They are to report any suspicious movement to the Police and voluntarily give prompt and useful information in case of any infraction of the law through these numbers: 08067788119, 08039537995, 08123823981 and 08075872433", he stated.

Meanwhile, the Osun State Command of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) revealed that it has deployed 1,457 officers and men in order to combat crimes and make sure there is adequate protection during the festivities in the state.

Making this known on Friday in Osogbo, the NSCDC Osun Commandant, Sunday Agboola in a statement signed by Atanda Olabisi, the Command spokesperson, reiterated the readiness of the corps to set up operational strategies toward fulfilling its mandates.

He also stated that all prayer grounds would be effectively provided with adequate security.

Agboola called in the residents to see security as everybody's business and therefore should contact any security agency in case of an emergency.
