Police Officer Arrested For Shooting Wife

Emaily Masinza succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at Coast General Hospital, Mombasa, Kenya.

A police officer attached to the Bamburi police station in Mombasa, Kenya has been arrested following the death of his wife whom he shot 3 times leading to her death.

Meshack Kosgey, the officer, is accused of fatally shooting his wife, 30-year-old Emaily Masinza.

According to the police, Kosgey was detained at the Nyali police station while the officers worked to complete their investigations. 

"The suspect is currently being remanded at Nyali police station under miscellaneous application awaiting police to complete investigations.

"He will now be charged with murder of the deceased contrary to section 203 as read with sec 204 of the penal code," the police report reads. 

Preliminary reports reveal that Kosgey's marriage was strained and he shot his wife after she threatened to end the relationship.

Topister Juma, a gender officer in Muhuri, told Kenyan news outlet "Citizen Digital" that the two had a strained marriage.

She claimed that the two used to fight frequently, even after they left the police camp.

According to her father, John Azangu, he had instructed his daughter to pack her belongings and leave the three-year marriage only to be informed she had been shot.
