The police Constable committed suicide in his jail cell.
Hillcrest-based South African Police Constable Mlungisi Sikhakhane who was charged with the murder of his two lovers has reportedly committed suicide.
Sikhakhane was arrested in October of this year after the bodies of 18-year-old Enhle Majozi and 24-year-old Sithembile Ngobese were discovered at the late Constable's Hillcrest house.
Correctional Services spokeswoman Singabakho Nxumalo stated that the 27-year-old Constable committed himself by hanging himself.
Sikhakhane, who had been abandoned by his counsel, had appeared in Pinetown Magistrates Court in November before being discovered dead in his jail cell at Westville prison in KwaZulu-Natal.
The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) says the accused was stationed at the Hillcrest SAPS station and was part of the Visible Policing squad.
IPID said he murdered two young ladies at his residence. Both individuals suffered gunshot wounds to the arms and heads.
“Eleven empty cartridges, four bullet heads and a porn video were found at the scene in the house,” said IPID spokesperson Lizzy Suping.
It is believed that the cop used his service pistol to murder the two women.
When Sikhakhane was detained, the KwaZulu-Natal Department of Social Development stated that information about what transpired was hazy; nonetheless, both young ladies were allegedly shot many times.
