Police Recover Three More Bodies Of River Accident In Ebonyi

The Police Command in Ebonyi has said that it has recovered three more dead bodies of victims who drowned in Ivo River of the state.

In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer of the State, DSP Loveth Odah, the police revealed that the corpse of one CSP Livinus Mbah Rtd, a police officer was also among the bodies recovered.

According to the Police Command, ten more bodies are still missing and are yet to be recovered.

The statement reads in part, “An update of the fatal motor accident at Ivo River in Ivo LGA of the State, three more corpses have been recovered among them is lifeless body of CSP Livinus Mbah Rtd, making a total number of twenty-three (23) victims.

“The corpses have been deposited at Martha Memorial Hospital Afikpo for preservation. Efforts are on to recover the remaining ten bodies.”

AllNews reports that the accident which involved a bus filled with 32 persons returning from a burial program at Edda in Afikpo South Local Government Area occurred along Afikpo/Ivo Federal Road.

It was gathered that the bus plunged into the river in an attempt to overtake a truck on the road.
