Police Storms Ekiti House Of Assembly Over Imminent Invasion

There was tension in Ekiti on Wednesday as operatives of the Nigerian Police stormed the premises of the State House of Assembly.

Afterwards, the Assembly was shut down over rumours of a planned invasion by unknown individuals.

Police officers were stationed at strategic locations in the complex in a bid to prevent a possible breakdown of law and order.

The staff of the assembly were also observed leaving their offices to their respective homes.

Some of the Assembly staff anonymously explained that they got an order from the Ekiti State Police Command requesting workers to vacate the complex in the interest of peace.

They stated that the request from the police stated that some people were planning to attack the House of Assembly.

However, the Speaker of the Ekiti State House of Assembly, Gboyega Aribisogan, said there was no crisis in the Assembly.

It would be recalled that chief Gboyega Aribisogan was elected as the new speaker of the assembly on Tuesday after defeating Olubunmi Adelugba from Emure Ekiti.
