Polio Vaccination: Osun Government Trains Health Professiona

The Osun State Government has commenced a two-day training workshop for selected health officials across 30 local governments and Area offices in the state.

The training according to the Board Chairman of the Osun State Primary Health Care Development Board, Tajudeen Adisa is in preparation for the Polio vaccination exercise that will commence from September 30 to October 3, 2023.

Speaking during the training, Adisa urged health workers in the state not to relent in their duties.

He stated that Governor Ademola Adeleke is passionate about delivering quality healthcare services to all.

"The vaccination against Poliovirus that causes poliomyelitis will commence on September 30, 2023 and end on October 3, 2023.

"The vaccination is packaged for the children within 0 to 59 months. I urge the general public, particularly nursing mothers and caregivers, to make sure their children between the stipulated age range are vaccinated during the exercise.

"As we all know Nigeria has not detected any case of the wild polio virus anywhere since August 2016, this critical milestone in the polio eradication programme is achieved as a result of your support and commitment of all our supporting partners (NPHCDA, UNICEF, WHO) and our committed and ever reliable health workers that we have in the State."

In his welcome address the Executive Secretary of the Osun State Primary Health Care Development Board, Dr. Oluwole Fabiyi appreciated all health workers in the state and implored them to be more committed to their duties so that Osun State can maintain her Zero Wild Polio Virus status.

While appreciating the World Health Organisation (WHO ), United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA) and other partners for the support, Dr. Fabiyi assured that the State Government would not relent in providing health security for its citizens.
