Polytechnic Lecturers Commence Strike Over New Salary Scheme

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has commenced a strike action. The polytechnic lecturers are demanding the implementation of a new salary scheme for polytechnic lecturers.

The union disclosed that the strike action commenced on Tuesday, April 6, 2021.

The leadership of the union announced the industrial action after a meeting with the Federal Government Officials in Abuja.

Aside from the new salary scheme that top the agenda of the union, they are also demanding payment of salaries and promotion allowances owed lecturers by some state governments.

The ASUP National President, Anderson Ezeibe, insisted that the strike action will go on, adding that the union will be open for dialogue with the Federal Government to resolve the issues raised.
