President Buhari Does Not Support Factions In APC — Presid

Muhammadu Buhari

The Presidency has countered a claim by one of the factions of the All Progressives Congress in Kano State, that they have received the endorsement of President Muhammadu Buhari.

A statement by Senior Special Assistant to the President, Garba Shehu on Saturday saying this is blatantly untrue.

“This cannot happen when matters are awaiting adjudication by the courts.”

“To be clear on this one, President Buhari has not endorsed any faction,” the statement added.

The statement noted that the President’s support is for the All Progressives Congress as a Party, united and strong, and not of any faction.

Earlier today, (Saturday), the factional leader of the APC in Kano Ahmadu Haruna Zago told BBC Hausa service that President Muhammadu Buhari congratulated him as APC leader in Kano.

President Muhammadu Buhari has had a closed door meeting with Zago, who along side Senator Ibrahim Shekarau have accused Governor Ganduje of sidelining them from the party activities.

This has led to parallel congresses in the state, with two party chairmen emerging in October.

Allnews.ng has reported earlier that a Federal High Court sitting in Abuja  voided the local government congress held by Governor Ganduje's faction of the party.

The presiding judge, Justice Hamza Muazu upheld the local government congress of the Senator Ibrahim Shekarau faction.

Ganduje’s faction has appealed the judgement.
