President Buhari Felicitates General Olu Bajowa At 80

President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday sent a congratulatory message to former Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Defence, Olu Bajowa on his 80th birthday.

AllNews learned that President Buhari's congratulatory message was contained in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, titled “President Buhari salutes Gen. Olu Bajowa at 80.”

“The President rejoices with the family, friends, associates of the Jagunmolu of Ikale Land as well as the government and people of Ondo State in celebrating the milestone age.
“President Buhari recalls with admiration the times he spent together with Gen. Bajowa during the military years beginning from the 3rd Infantry Division of the Nigerian Army when he was Brigade Commander in the Northern Sector based in Maiduguri, and Bajowa was a Brigade Commander in the Southern Sector in Calabar.

“Both of them also worked together when Bajowa was Permanent Secretary, Ministries of Defence; Industry as well as Science and Technology, and Gen. Buhari (retd.) was Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Petroleum Trust Fund.

“President Buhari notes that the celebrant distinguished himself creditably during his stint as Managing Director, Nigeria Airways, and was Coordinator of the movement of federal ministries from Lagos to the new Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.

“He also recalls with appreciation when Gen. Bajowa hosted him and his entourage at his Igbotako residence, Ondo State on a campaign stop during his first attempt as a Presidential Candidate in 2003.

“As the Prince and astute administrator joins the ‘Octogenarian Club,’ President Buhari wishes him divine blessings of good health and longer life so that he will continue to serve his community, country, and humanity,” the statement read.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Ondo State, Rotimi Akeredolu in his congratulatory message to Olu Bajowa as he attained the milestone age of 80 years describing him as a man of immense capability and impeccable character.

Akeredolu in a congratulatory message he personally signed and sent to the Octogenarian on the occasion of his birthday which comes up on the 27th December said that Bajowa “is a man of immense capability and impeccable character whose life has been exemplary and worthy of emulation by all and sundry."

The governor in the message said “On behalf of my wife, Betty, myself, the government and good people of Ondo State, I felicitate Prince, Sir, (General)Joseph Olu Bajowa, Ph.D., OFR, The Jagunmolu of Ikale Land on his attainment of the milestone age of 80 years.

“Gen Olu Bajowa (Rtd) is no doubt, a man of immense capability having begun his career as a young Military Officer where he climbed through the rungs of the officer corps to the enviable rank of Major General and retired at the age of 40 years.

While saluting the commitment of Bajowa to nation-building, Akeredolu noted that Bajowa “is a man with huge passion and love for the unity of Nigeria and development of Ondo state and by extension his community.

“Having served his fatherland meritoriously, he indeed deserves the accolades he is receiving. Men of honor are always known by their traits and character and our dear General is one of them. “It is quite unbelievable that the quintessential General is 80 years old already as he is still waxing strong like a young man, ”
