AllNews Nigeria reports that the WTO Chief Executive Officer, who assumed office on March 1, 2021, is visiting Nigeria for the first time since she took office in Geneva, Switzerland.
Okonjo-Iweala arrived at the Presidential Villa on Monday afternoon and was accompanied by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, the Minister of Trade and Investment, Otunba Niyi Adebayo as well as the Minister of State for Trade and Investment, Ambassador Maryam Katagum.

This online news platform gathered that Okonjo-Iweala’s meeting with Buhari is aimed at discussing how to further bonding in Improving Nigeria’s share of global trade, Developing Nigeria’s Services sector, Attracting investment; training & capacity building amongst others.
According to the Nigerian WTO DG, "I felt I had to come to Nigeria first, to say thank you, to Mr. President; to thank him for his nomination and his support, he signed so many letters, he talked to so many people"
"I want to say a special thank you to young people in Nigeria. They were on social media sending so many encouraging videos".
The Nigerian WTO Director general during an interview with journalists revealed that Nigeria would have started producing its own oil if Dangote Refinery had existed years ago.
According to her, former Nigeria’s finance minister, the President/Chief Executive, Dangote Industries Limited, Aliko Dangote, should have been encouraged in his efforts to build a refinery in the country.
