President Mohammadu Buhari has sent a bill requesting the initiation of a National Secondary School Education Commission Bill to the National Assembly.
The Senate President Ahmad Lawan and the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, at the plenary on Tuesday read President Buhari's cover letter on the executive bill where the request was made.
In the letter, Buhari said the letter was in accordance with Section 58(2) of the 1999 amended Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The President also explained that the bill would ensure that educational standards are maintained and allow the intervention of the Federal Government in the improvement of senior secondary education in the country.
