President Tinubu reacts to slipping at Eagle's Square, makes

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, has revealed why he slipped and fell during the Democracy Day celebration in Abuja's Eagles Square, while making a joke out of the whole situation.

Allnews.ng had earlier reported that President Tinubu stumbled and fell on Wednesday while boarding a ceremonial vehicle at the 2024 Democracy Day location.

The President approached the car immediately after arriving at the Eagles Square, Abuja, location for the function, however, the President lost his balance as he was stepping inside the vehicle.

Despite the stumble, the President regained his balance and completed the proceedings.

Nigerians reacted to the situation both on and off social media.

But Tinubu, speaking at a luncheon at the Presidential Villa Wednesday night, made a joke out of the situation, while noting that he did not fall but prostrated to greatness in honour of Democracy Day.

He said: “Earlier this morning, I had a swagger and it is on social media.”

The President speculated that bystanders may have confused his slip for the popular 'Buga' dancing motion or a traditional Yoruba technique of prostrating to greet elders known as 'Idobale' in Yoruba.

“They were confused whether I was doing buga or babanriga,” Tinubu said.

“But it’s a day to celebrate democracy while doing ‘dobale’ for the day. I am a traditional Yoruba boy, I did my dobale,” the President said jokingly.
