Proper waste disposal crucial in Kano — Garo

Proper waste disposal crucial in Kano — Garo

Nasiru Sule Garo, Kano Environment and Climate Change Commissioner

The Kano State Ministry of Environment and Climate Change has urged residents to refrain from indiscriminately dumping refuse in waterways.

The commissioner of environment, Sule Garo cited the heightened risk of flooding during rainy seasons due to the act. He disclosed this on Wednesday as he prayed for lasting peace and harmony in Kano State and Nigeria at large.

Garo emphasized the importance of maintaining proper sanitation and hygiene.

“During the Sallah festivities, it's crucial for everyone in the state to prioritize sanitation and maintain a hygienic environment.

"Given the increased waste generation during this time, it's imperative that people dispose of their waste at designated locations for efficient evacuation, rather than littering the drainage,” he said.

The commissioner also enjoined Muslim Ummah to put into practice the lessons learned during the Ramadan period and assist the needy and less privileged in society.
