Protest: Ibadan Poly Lifts Ban On Students' Union Activities, Pends Exams

Protest: Ibadan Poly Lifts Ban On Students' Union Activities

The management of The Polytechnic, Ibadan has lifted the suspension placed on the activities of the institution’s Students’ Union Government on Monday.

This is contained in a statement by the institution’s Registrar, Modupe Fawale, in Ibadan on Monday.

The lift of the suspension comes after consultations by the management as announced by Fawale in a statement released earlier.

“The management has decided not to use the big stick on the students, as they have also sheathed their swords.

“The management will be holding meetings with the leadership of the students to address their perceived grievances,” she said.

Fawale, however, noted that the first semester examination, prepared to commence on January 9 remained postponed and a new date would be announced.

“A new date for the commencement of the examination will be announced to the students through appropriate channels,” she said.

AllNews Nigeria reports that the management of the institution suspended the union following the protest by the students in the early hours of Monday which it described as "ill-advised and politically motivated".
