Protest: NSCDC nab 108 suspects, recover looted items in Kan

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, in Kano State, has arrested a group of individuals from Niger, along with 108 other suspects, for their alleged involvement in vandalising government and public properties during the recent nationwide protests.

The protests caused widespread chaos in the state.

According to the State Commandant, Mohammed Lawal-Falala, the suspects were arrested at various locations in the state capital and were paraded on Saturday.

The arrests were made possible due to credible intelligence gathered by the NSCDC's intelligence and investigation departments, with various looted items found in the suspects' possession.

He, however, added that some of the suspects were from neighbouring states while some are Nigeriens.

According to him, the suspects allegedly vandalised and looted facilities at the soon-to-be inaugurated Digital Industrial Park, belonging to the Nigerian Communication Communication, NCC.

Among, items recovered from them are KCD TVs, executive chairs, door and window frames as well as drawers

Other items also recovered are  State Road dual carriageway iron demarcating shields and a 50 KVA Mikano Generator for streetlight at Dorayi Quarters, Gwale Local Government Area.

He then added that the suspects would be charged in Court upon the completion of the investigation.
