Riders in the Federal Capital Territory protested on Monday after their motorcycles were impounded in the morning.
Per reports, the task force of the Federal Capital Territory Administration stormed the Goza area along the Airport road in Abuja to clamp down on the operators, leading to a demonstration from the latter group.
The aggrieved protesters blocked the road, resulting in heavy traffic for those plying the road at the time.
A commercial bus driver who spoke on the condition of anonymity disclosed: "FCT taskforce went there to seize the motorcycles of those operating at the expressway.
"They have been warned to stop using the highway. But they still do, which was why the task force came. But they angrily blocked the road afterwards."
A Punch correspondent found out that security operatives including the police, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps were subsequently deployed to the area.
The FCT Police Spokesperson, Josephine Adeh, who confirmed the deployment added that she had not been fully briefed on the matter.
