Protesters Burn Train Carriages Over Railway Jobs In India

Angry protesters in the eastern part of India have set fire to train carriages in protests over access to railway jobs.

The protest started in the state of Bihar on the ground that the entrance exam for the government-run rail sector was being conducted unfairly.

Aljazeera claimed the protests began on Monday but have since been extended, as protesters are seen blocking rail tracks and burning train carriages.

More than a dozen people have been arrested for participating in the protests and the Police have been criticised for the harsh response, with footage showing officers going into the homes of suspected protesters and flogging them.

A senior opposition leader in the country, Priyanka Gandhi condemn the police's action and said on Twitter; “The youth have the right to talk about unemployment."

More than 10 million people participated in the railway employment exams while vacancies only exists for 35,000 people.
