PSG Is Different Team In Champions League — Nagelsmann

Julian Nagelsmann

Bayern Munich manager Julian Nagelsmann spoke ahead of Tuesday's Champions League clash against Paris Saint-Germain acknowledging their danger and the significance of the Champions League to the French club.

He emphasized that the domestic form of PSG meant little, as the Champions League is a separate competition.

"We don't have much focus on the situation PSG has in the league – the Champions League is another competition.

"I think for PSG it has a special meaning and it is very important."

Bayern enter the match with a one-point lead over Union Berlin in the league. However, they've been stellar in Europe, winning all six of their group-stage matches and scoring 18 goals while conceding only two.

Nagelsmann emphasized the importance of the Champions League for both the club and himself, stating that he wants to win the trophy before he retires.

The manager warned his team not to focus solely on PSG's star players, such as Neymar and Mbappe, but to be aware of other talented players on the team as well. He stressed that the key to success is a collective effort from the entire team.

Nagelsmann said his side must not fall into the trap of "focusing only on the huge names in the team", amid uncertainty surrounding the possible return of injured stars Leo Messi and Kylian Mbappe.

"You can only do it as a team, as a collective. We have to prevent the passes before they arrive to Neymar or to Mbappe.

"But we have to also focus on other players, (their) outside players with top offensive quality and speed."

Bayern will face PSG in Paris on Tuesday, with the return leg taking place in Munich on March 8th.
