Putin Lists Demands From Ukraine In Call With Turkey's Presi

Russian President, Vladimir Putin has made clear his demands from Ukraine for a peace deal in his call with the President of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

Turkish Presidential Spokesperson, Ibrahim Kalın told BBC that Putin explained Russia's demands for a peace deal to Erdoğan in a phone call.

According to Kalın, one of the demands is for Ukraine to remain neutral and not apply to join NATO.

The other demands are that Ukraine will have to undergo a disarmament process to ensure it was not a threat to Russia. There would have to be protection for the Russian language in Ukraine. Putin also demanded the so-called "denazification" of the country.

There are also some demands from Putin that states that the Ukrainian government should give up territory in eastern Ukraine.

These demands include the status of some regions in eastern Ukraine, specifically the regions of Donbas and Crimea.

Turkey has been one of the countries leading efforts to find a diplomatic solution to the ongoing Russian invasion of Ukraine, which has affected millions of civilians.
