Putin Thanks Erdoğan For Role In Prisoner Swaps, Ukraine Me

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday thanked President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan of Turkey for his role in Ukraine mediation and prisoner swaps.

Speaking at a press conference in Astana, Putin said that Ukraine was not prepared for negotiations and thanked Erdoğan for his role in brokering prisoner exchanges.

Most recently, Turkey enabled a prisoner swap between the countries.

Also, Turkish mediation proved vital in facilitating the signing of a deal between Turkey, the United Nations, Russia and Ukraine to reopen certain Ukrainian ports to release grain.

Turkey has been one of the most active countries working to ensure a permanent cease-fire between Ukraine and Russia.

Since the beginning of the war, Turkey has offered to mediate between the two sides and host peace talks, underlining its support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity and sovereignty.
