Putin To Make First Official Visits Since Ukraine Invasion

Russian President Vladimir Putin is set to make his first official visit abroad this week.

This is after the invasion of Ukraine. Russia's invasion of Ukraine which started on February 24, 2022, has seen thousands of people dead, and millions displaced.

Pavel Zarubin, the country's correspondent of the Rossiya 1 state television station, said Putin would visit Tajikistan and Turkmenistan and then meet Indonesian President Joko Widodo.

Putin will also meet Tajik President Imomali Rakhmon, a close Russian ally and the longest-serving ruler of a former Soviet state.

In Ashgabat, he will attend a summit of Caspian nations including the leaders of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Iran and Turkmenistan.

Putin also plans to visit the Belarus city of Grodno on June 30 and July 1 to take part in a forum with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko.

The last time Putin travelled out of the country was in early February during a visit to Beijing where he and Chinese President Xi Jinping both attended the opening ceremony of the Olympic Winter Games.
