Queen's College: PTA Seeks Second Campus, Says Facilities Overstretched

Queen's College: PTA Seeks Second Campus, Says Facilities Ov

Members of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) of Queen’s College, Lagos, have called on the government and private sector to support the bid for two campuses for students of the school.

The Chairman of the school's PTA, Oluwayomi Ojo, in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday, stated that an additional campus would produce an enabling environment to separate the junior from the senior school.

According to him, the limited facilities and human resources, have led to supplementing the current human resources with competent PTA teachers.

“We are still appealing to the government for support because I heard that the principal is looking for another site for a dual campus, that will have junior school somewhere and senior school elsewhere.

“As we can see, the facilities are overstretched, going by the number of students, as this will really reduce bullying and definitely give the students more space to learn.

“We pay more than N6 million every month to the PTA teachers as well as PTA members of staff in the College, where we have security, divers and cleaners,” Ojo added.

The chairman applauded the intervention of MTN Foundation in upgrading the College's Chemistry, Physics and Biology laboratories which were recently inaugurated, calling on others in the private sector to do likewise.

He noted that doing this would mean investing in the future of the students.

“Government schools need the intervention of the private sector to survive, and that is exactly what MTN Foundation has done.

”With this development, the students now have what is obtainable in private schools in a public school,” he added.
