Queues For Petrol Resume In Kano As Litre Hits N230

The queues resurfaced after IPMAN's Monday warning that the country may experience its worst scarcity

Queues for petrol in Kano have resurfaced as many filling stations remain under lock in the metropolitan and some local governments.

This is following warning by the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) on Monday that should the Federal Government fail to push the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority, (NMDPRA) to pay its members their outstanding bridging claims amounting of over N500 billion, the country will experience its worst petroleaum shortage.

Filling stations along ring road like Gade-Gade, and Muhibba remain closed, whil Matrix, the NNPC, and Chula and Aliko filled with long queues that may take over a day to disperse.

The petroleum product is some filling stations sell for up to N230 per liter.

Business for black marketers is now booming as they connive with their friends at some of the filling stations to get theirs easier than motorists.

Residents are already groaning as this has affected the price of some household commodities, even water that is sold in jerry cans were sold for up to N80 per can in some parts of Kano on Thursday.
