Ramadan: Fintiri reviews curfew, orders security beef up in

Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has reviewed the curfew imposed on the state, restricting movement of commercial tricycle riders known as Keke Napep due to the Ramadan fasting.

Following the review, the curfew now commences from 11 p.m to 5 a.m daily instead of the 10 p.m to 5 a.m daily.

Noting that the easing of the curfew is with immediate effect, Fintiri said: "The development is to enable the Muslim faithful partake in tafsir sessions during the period."

The governor has equally ordered security agencies to beef up security by deploying more personnel to Yola North, Yola South and Girei Local Government Areas of the state to ensure safety of people and their property.

He ordered that any person found wanting during the Ramadan period be made to face the full wrath of the law.

allnews.ng recalls that Governor Fintiri had in 2021 imposed the curfew in the three LGAs through the Adamawa State Restriction of Movement of Tricycles/Motorcycles Executive Order No.1 of 2021.

The Governor's spokesperson, Humwashi Wonosikou made this known in a statement on Sunday.

The statement partly reads: "The review of the Restriction of movement is necessitated by the desire of the Government to allow Muslim faithful observe unhindered Tafsir at their various Mosques during the Ramadan period.

"The Governor is appealing to residents not to encourage any action that may turn back the clock of the success recorded in the peace enterprise of the State, but to keep living in harmony and strengthen the unity and peaceful co-existence the people are known for."
