A former Majority Leader of the House of Representatives and current Chairman of the House Committee on Downstream Petroleum, Alhassan Ado Doguwa, has shared N100 million cash to hundreds of his constituents.

This was contained in a statement he signed and distributed newsmen in Kano on Sunday.

According to the statement, the gesture was intended to cushion the effects of economic hardships on people.

The lawmaker also said the assistance was also to complement the Federal Government's efforts to address hunger and starvation in the country.

He said, "I distributed a total sum of N100 million in cash to my party members and other members of the public, as my small contribution to the Federal Government's serious measures in tackling poverty in the land.”

He also distributed additional items to the constituents, including 2000 bags of rice packaged in 25kg bags, 300 bags of millet, 200 units of water pumping machines to enhance irrigation farming, and 100 deep freezers to support women engaged in small businesses.

"Other items, I gave out include 1000 bags of Cement, 500 bundles of Roofing Zinc, all aimed at mitigating the suffering of the people of my constituency.

"We will continue to do that periodically to support and complement the efforts of the Federal and State Government to improve the living conditions of our vulnerable populace," Doguwa added.
