Two hours have been reduced from normal working hours for workers in Jigawa State to ease the fasting period for Muslims in the state.

The state government announced in a statement signed by the Public Relations Officer of the State Head of Civil Service, Isma'ili Ibrahim Dutse for the State Head of the Civil Service, Alhaji Hussaini Ali Kila.

The statement said Civil Servants in the State would now report to the office at 9:00am and close by 3:00 pm between Monday and Thursday instead of 5:00 pm.

"Furthermore, Workers would report to work on Fridays by 9:00am and close by 1:00 pm as usual."

According to him, the reduction is aimed at providing more opportunities for Civil Servants to prepare for their Ramadan break and also to have more time to observe the spiritual activities of the holy month.

Alhaji Hussaini Ali Kila stated that it is hoped that Civil Servants in the State would use the Ramadan period to pray for God’s guidance and blessings for the State.

“It is also hope that Civil Servants would use the fasting period to pray for the peace and economic prosperity of the State and Nigeria at large".
