Rape: 75% Of Cases I Handle Are From Religious Leaders- Folu

Popular thespian, Foluke Daramola-Salako, has waded in on the recent rape cases in the country, stating that most of the cases she currently handles are from religious leaders.

AllNews reports that in the past few days, there have been series of rape cases in the country, with many opening up on their alleged experiences, after the rape and murder of a 22-year-old girl in Edo state.

Speaking during an interview with Funmi Iyanda, Daramola-Salako who pioneers Passion Against Rape and Abuse Africa, (PARAA) said she was raped at the age of 17.

According to her, 75% of rape cases are from religious leaders and often times, it is difficult to get to the root of the matter.

She said: “75% of the cases I have on my table are from religious leaders, and a lot of time, we don’t get to the end of it, because when we start, the family would come and tell us we should leave the religious leader to God.”

On whether indecent dressing triggers it, she said: “Nothing attracts rape, it is a sign of weakness. Why do they rape minors, teenagers, and even old women, is that also about indecent dressing?

“You hardly find rape cases against young women except for sexual assaults and abuse in workplaces, we find it mostly amongst kids, teenagers, and elderly women, how come you are now telling me it is indecent dressing? And we are not animals.” she said.

Meanwhile, BBNaija star Khafi Kareem and DJ Switch claimed they were raped.

Also, celebrity photographer, Busola Dakolo gave update on her rape case against Pastor Biodun Fatoyinbo of Commonwealth Of Zion Assembly (COZA). Although she lost in the case in 2019.
