Rape: D’banj’s Accuser Seyitan Slammed With N1.5 Billion Lawsuit

Rape: D’banj’s Accuser Seyitan Slammed With N1.5 Billion

D’banj’s rape saga has now taken a new dimension as his accuser, Seyitan Babatayo has been ordered to pay a sum of N1 billion damages.

Allnews reports that Seyitan, some weeks ago took to Twitter to disclose that D’banj raped her in December 2018.

He failed to react until Tuesday, June 16, when he filed a lawsuit, stating that the rape allegations levelled against him only ‘reopened painful scars’ of the loss of his son.

D’banj, through his lawyers, Mike Ozekhome Chambers, demanded that Seyitan pays the sum of N100m within 48 hours or risk legal action, after which he allegedly got her arrested and intimidated her to delete the tweets and promote his music effort.

After a long silence on her social media handle, Seyitan, in a statement shared by Twitter user @Postsubman alleged that she was arrested by four armed policemen and treated like a criminal.

However, the award-winning singer through his lawyer, sued Seyitan for the sum of N1.5 billion for general damages.

She is also expected to appear before the court within 30 days or judgement takes place in her absence.

Part of the document read "An order directing the defendant to pay the claimant, the sum of N1, 000,000,000.00 (One Billion Naira) only, representing general damages over the untold embarrassment, derision, public ridicule, odium, oloquy, marital disharmony, mental agony and psychological trauma which the defendant’s tweets and publication have caused the claimant," the document read in part. The singer is also requesting another N500 million from his accuser for aggravated punitive and exemplary damages.

Meanwhile, the police had denied arresting and detaining Seyitan.
