Rapper Cardi B To Pay For Funeral Cost Of Fire Victims

Cardi B has promised to cover the funeral expenses of those who died in a deadly fire in a New York City borough.

On the morning of January 9, 2022, a fire tore through a Bronx apartment building, killing 17 people and injuring many more.

The state of New York disclosed last week that it will contribute $2 million to a victims' fund.

"I'm really happy to be from the Bronx," Cardi B, a Bronx native, said in a statement to CNN. "I have many of family and friends who live and work there still."

"So, when I heard about the fire and all of the victims, I knew I needed to do something to help.

"I cannot begin to imagine the pain and anguish that the families of the victims are experiencing, but I hope that not having to worry about the costs associated with burying their loved ones will help as they move forward and heal.

"I send my prayers and condolences to everyone affected by this horrific tragedy."

According to her publicist, the rapper teamed up with The Mayor's Fund to Advance New York City to ensure that the families of all the victims were included in her donation and that "their loved ones' ultimate wishes were fulfilled."
