Rashford Insists Man Utd Players Didn't Give Up Against Live

Marcus Rashford

Marcus Rashford has addressed Manchester United's humiliating 7-0 defeat to Liverpool, dismissing suggestions that the players had given up during the game.

The forward instead attributed the loss to a lack of communication and organization among the team.

Speaking to reporters ahead of United's Europa League match against Real Betis, Rashford admitted that communication had been poor and that the team had not been in agreement on what to do.

The lack of coordination led to a breakdown in the team's principles, both in and out of possession, he explained.

"We didn't give up, that's nonsense. We were unorganised - yes. Communication was bad - yes - that's why we conceded the goals," Rashford explained.

"It comes down to the fact that I believe everyone was trying to get back into the game that much we came away from the team's principles, in and out of possession.

"I felt like the forwards were trying to press just as a forward unit - we weren't connected with the midfield - and then the same with the midfield and the defence... we were talking but I don't think we were in agreement on what to do."

Rashford emphasized the importance of learning from the defeat and moving on quickly.

He pointed out that United were still in contention in all competitions, and that they had to be thankful that games were coming thick and fast.

"Because of all the principles we have had from the beginning of the season, we are in a position where we are still fighting on all fronts and we still have a lot of games to play," Rashford said.

The forward also expressed a desire to play again as soon as possible, in order to put things right after the Liverpool loss.

"When we have a game like we did against Liverpool we want to play again as soon as possible because we want to put it right.

"Tomorrow, hopefully, we can do that."
