Ratcliffe Refuses To Pay 'Unreasonable' Price, Tags Man Utd

Jim Ratcliffe

British billionaire Jim Ratcliffe has expressed his reluctance to pay an unreasonable amount for Manchester United ahead of the deadline for second offers on Wednesday.

Ratcliffe, a lifelong United supporter and founder of chemical firm INEOS, made a bid for the Premier League club in February.

The Glazer family, United's current owners, began exploring options for the club, including new investments or a possible sale, in November, 17 years after acquiring the club for £790 million as part of a highly-leveraged deal.

According to sources, any sale of United would likely surpass the biggest sports deal to date, the $5.2 billion Chelsea deal, including debt and investments.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Ratcliffe described the club as a "community asset" rather than a financial one and emphasized that paying unreasonable prices for things would lead to subsequent regret.

Reports show that United are expected to receive over five bids before the second offer deadline.
