Recovered £4.2m Ibori Loot Returned To Delta - Accountant-G

The £4.2 million looted funds by former Governor of Delta State, James Ibori has been handed over to the State Government led by Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa.

The Accountant General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, made this known in Abuja on Tuesday afternoon when he appeared before the House of Representatives’ Ad hoc Committee on Assessment and Status of All Recovered Loots Movable and Immovable Assets from 2002 to 2020 by Agencies of the Federal Government of Nigeria for Effective Efficient Management and Utilisation.

Recall the Federal Government has recently recovered the £4.2million (about N2.2 billion) funds from the United Kingdom government which stirred up controversies.

One such was that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) planned using the £4.2million returned loot to complete the second Niger Bridge among other projects.

However, on Tuesday, Idris who was grilled by the Ad hoc committee for over one hour, stated that such funds looted from the treasury of a state are always returned to the state.

He added that states can sue the Federal Government to recover such funds.
