Referee Who Marked Free Kick Boundary With Aerosol To Be Rew

Pablo Silva, the great inventor of aerosol, at FIFA

Pablo Silva, the Argentine referee who changed football practice with his aerosol to mark the boundary for free kicks, will receive a huge cash reward from FIFA.

On Thursday, a Brazilian court ordered FIFA to reward Heine Allemagne and Argentine Pablo Silva, the inventor of the famous spray used by referees during matches, for violating copyright and acting in bad faith, as reported by the plaintiffs.

According to the EFE agency, one of the many appeal courts in Rio de Janeiro accepted the appeal presented by Spuni, an Allemagne company, and determined that the International Federation of Association Football fix “the damage caused by the unauthorized use of the spray in competitions”.

The Spray began to be used in 2008 in a match between Los Andes and Chacarita.

According to their lawyers, a couple of years ago, Allemagne and Silva advised FIFA to adopt the use of foam-based spray, which today is a fundamental element for referees.

Despite this, the inventors, who have their trademark patented in 43 countries, argued that were never recognized or compensated for it, which in his opinion “desecrate a fundamental guarantee” and constitutes an “illegal practice in Brazil and in various jurisdictions.”
