The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has said that 17,053 babies were born in refugee camps across Borno State in 3 years, reported BBC Hausa.

IOM told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that as registered from 2019 to 2021, the babies were born in 18 camps.

The IOM President, Mr Frantz Celestin disclosed that the organization is the biggest donor in the North East with a capacity of 115 camps under its care.

He added that the organization has partnered with the Nigerian Census Bereau and the United Nations Children Fund to issue birth certificates for the babies.
