Religious Violence: How Muslim-Christian Relationships Flourish In Kaduna

Religious Violence: How Muslim-Christian Relationships Flour

Despite security tensions and pockets of violence rocking Kaduna State and other parts of northern Nigeria, some residents of the region are spreading harmony and interreligious unity during the Islamic month of Ramadan.

More than 1,000 less privileged Muslims received food items and cash from a Church in Kaduna before the Ramadan fast on Wednesday.

The gesture is one of the measures the people of Kaduna use to propagate peace amid religious tensions in some parts of the state, according to Kaduna residents who spoke to AllNews Nigeria under the condition of anonymity.

"Let me confirm to you that the Church of Christ Evangelical and Life Intercessory Ministry in Sabon Tasha, Kaduna donated bags of grains and cash at the Kano Road Central Mosque in Kaduna just now", a source told AllNews Nigeria's correspondent via the phone.

He added that the church's General Overseer, Pastor Yohanna Buru, presented the items to the beneficiaries as a gesture to strengthen unity, peace, and religious tolerance between the two faiths in the state.

"In Kaduna State, we are determined to live harmoniously together as a unit regardless of differences in faith to thicken the bond between Muslims and Christians amid pocket of security challenges we have in our dear state", he added.
