Nigerian singer Rema has added another feather to his cap as he has officially become a Guinness World Records holder, thanks to his smash hit, 'Calm Down'.
Per the latest reports, the global hit track which made history as the First No.1 Hit on The Official MENA Chart (the world’s first regional streaming chart) has been recognised by Guinness World Records via its website.
The statement reveals that Rema has been recognised for securing the first number 1 hit on the world’s first regional streaming chart and first-ever official chart in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).
'Calm Down' made history on March 21, 2013, surpassing Wizkid’s ‘Essence’ remix feat Tems and Justin Bieber as the highest charting African song on Billboard Hot 100.
Released in February 2022, the song garnered local and international success before Rema made the decision to feature American songstress Selena Gomez on the remix.
With 'Calm Down' having made its way into the Guinness World Records, Rema joins the ranks of Femi Kuti and Wizkid as Nigerian musicians with the remarkable achievement.
