Reno Omokri Berates President Buhari Over Tax On GSM Calls,

Reno Omokri has tackled President Muhammadu Buhari, calling him "insensitive" over the tax on phone calls and data amid the high cost of living in the country.

It was previously announced by the Minister of Finance Budget and National Planning, Zainab Ahmed, that Nigerians would pay a 12.5 per cent tax on telecommunications services as the federal government plans to implement a five per cent inclusive excise duty on telecommunications services.

Reacting to the development via his official Instagram account, Omokri said that Nigeria is broke and President Buhari chooses to tax GSM calls and data to get by.

According to the former Special Assistant to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Buhari loves making Nigerians poorer.

Omokri wondered how the president expects citizens who are struggling to eat to meet up with the payment of what he called a high tax.

"Nigeria is broke. The Federal Government needs money. And what does Buhari do? He does not reduce the salaries of all government appointees.

"He does not reduce his political appointees (the man has over 9 media aides). He does not reduce the hundreds of billions spent on the National Assembly.

"He does not sell any of his 10 Presidential jets. Instead, he taxes GSM calls and data. Why does Buhari love making Nigerians poorer?

"How does this insensitive man expect people who are struggling to eat, to pay such a high tax?

"Meanwhile, he is using the tax Nigerians are already paying to buy ₦1.1 billion worth of luxury cars (not security) for Niger Republic.

"Impeach this man already. Every day he remains in power is a day that Nigeria sinks lower!", Omokri wrote.
